Getting To Ensenada, Mexico

By Plane:

Closest Mexican Airport - Tijuana

Closest US Airport - San Diego

Closest International Hub Airport - Los Angeles

(if you plan to fly from outside the US to Tijuana, we recommend connecting at an airport outside of the US such as Mexico City, to avoid going through US immigration procedures)

By Car:

From Los Angeles Airport - 4h - 5h30 (depending on traffic)

From San Diego Airport - 2h - 3h (depending on traffic)

From Tijuana Airport - 1h20 - 2h

Driving services can be hired to take you from the border to Valle de Guadalupe, reach out to us directly if you'd like some guidance for this option.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you plan to drive from the US to Mexico with your own car, don't be like us and make sure you have your physical, up-to-date car registration with you!

If you plan on renting a car in the US and driving it to Mexico, double and triple check with your rental company, as most do not allow it. You will also need additional insurance coverage.

If flying into Tijuana, and you wish to self-drive, rental companies are available at the airport.

When entering to Mexico from the San Ysidro point of entry, follow the signs for "ENSENADA, CUOTA"

When in Mexico, please use Google Maps (not Maps!) - especially when crossing back into the US.

If it suggests you take the side roads to avoid congestions, we HIGHLY recommend sitting through the traffic and remain on the highway. Not taking the toll road could lead you to places that feel like off-roading.

There are two tolls, each approx 47 Mxn Pesos / US$2.50 payable in cash (USD are accepted, amount varies with exchange rate).

If traveling by car, do not attempt to cross the border without your PHYSICAL and VALID car registration.

Crossing the border back into the US can have a long wait in the general admission lane, in addition to travel time, especially on Sundays, so be prepared.

Each port of entry has three types of lanes: General (longest), ReadyLane and SENTRI (fastest). Please make sure you are allowed to use one of the preferential lanes before crossing the border, otherwise use General.

The ports of entry into the US in the San Diego-Tijuana area are:

  - San Ysidro

  - Otay Mesa

Real-time wait times estimates can be found here: https://bwt.cbp.gov/

By Boat:

A ferry service has been announced from San Diego to Ensenada for 2025 but service has not yet started. We will update you if this option does become available.

Please note that there are still customs formalities to go through when landing in San Diego.

GLOBAL ENTRY: A way to get around the wait times is to go through the SENTRI lane by applying for Global Entry on the website below: https://online-usa-traveler.com This allows you to go through the SENTRI preferred lane that has a 20-30 min wait time. It is valid for 5 years, gives you TSA Precheck at airports across the United States, and automated entry into the US at customs from all International flights. If you wish to consider this option, please plan ahead as there is an interview requirement and wait times for approval can vary greatly. (If you already have TSA Precheck, it does not mean you have Global Entry) In order to use Global Entry:   - must be US citizen, Permanent Resident or citizen of select countries (not France)   - every person in the car must have Global Entry   - the car used to cross must also be registered at the time of application (but not necessarily in your name)

Any Advice on Where to Stay?

Ensenada? Valle de Guadalupe? Where should you stay?

Our wedding is in Mexico's Wine Country, also known as Valle de Guadalupe.

Valle de Guadalupe has countless accommodation options, some minutes away from the venue!

Ensenada is the city closest to Valle de Guadalupe, and is only about 20 minutes away from our venue by car.

If you decide to stay at one of the following hotels, we can arrange a pickup and drop-off shuttle service to the venue on the day of the wedding:

  - $$$ El Cielo - elcielovalledeguadalupe.com

  - $$ Boutique Hotel Valle de Guadalupe - hoteldelvalledeguadalupe.com

  - $ Maria Teresa Hotel - anchomariateresa.com

(signup process for the shuttle will take place at the same time as the rsvp)

This region is also known for being an architect's paradise, and you can find a lot of architectural gems on Airbnb.

Some boutique hotels can also be booked through Airbnb, providing unique experiences such as sleeping in a bubble or in a treehouse!

(We are only providing shuttle services to and from the above three hotels, please keep that in mind if you decide to book somewhere else)

Getting To the Venue

All the festivities, Ceremony, Cocktail, Reception and Party will take place at the same venue.

For people staying at El Cielo, Boutique Hotel Valle de Guadalupe or Maria Teresa Hotel, please let us know when RSVPing if you would like for us to arrange a shuttle service that can pick you up and drop you off at your hotel, take you to the venue and back.

Self driving is probably the best alternative option to get to the venue, there is ample parking on site.

Uber / Lyft are not a reliable means of transport, taxis can be used using this trusted service:

Please be aware that apart from the main roads, most of the side streets in Valle de Guadalupe, including the one our venue is on, are dirt roads.

What to Wear

What Should  You Wear?

Dress code is Formal AttireBlack-Tie Optional.

No white dresses - NOT-OPTIONAL

The venue is entirely outdoors! Early June weather should hopefully be nice and warm (but not too hot) during the afternoon, with still pleasant temperatures at night. We recommend bringing something light to cover yourself up after the sun sets just in case.

Ladies, if you'd like a little inspiration as to what you should wear, feel free to check out our guests inspiration board.

While a large part of the venue has concrete floors, please be aware that the parking area is dirt.
